R.L. Stine(1943 - ) |
| Robert
Lawrence Stine was born in Columbus, Ohio, United States on October 08
1943. He began his writing when he was nine, and wrote and passed out
his own comics in High School. His teacher would take them away, but his
passion for literature kept him writing R.L. Stine began writing early and has enjoyed it ever since. When Stine was younger he read tons of different books. His favorite is "Something Wicked This Way Comes". He read "Mad" the magazine, and it changed his life. Myths, baseball stories, and thrillers also helped him get a taste of different types of literature. Stine suggests reading different types of writings for young writers. R.L. is now living in his apartment in New York with his wife, Jane, and their son, Matt. He's still writing his books, and gets thousands of fan mail, so much that his mailman got so mad with the amount of mail he just threw the mail bag into the apartment! Stine has sold millions of copies of his books. He helps promote children's literacy; he was even the honored guest of Governor Jeb Bush in 2001to launch Florida's 'Celebration of Reading' campaign. Stine has been voted a top author and has won many awards. He's won the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, Disney Adventures Kids' Choice Awards and many more. He's written over 3 main stories (each of witch containing many great books) and just keeps coming up with more great ideas. This great author isn't unlike many others. His ideas come, if not only the inspiration, from real life. He also just gets ideas out of the blue. Jane and Matt have inspired a few of his ideas, such as "The Haunted Mask", when his son had trouble getting a Halloween mask off. But no matter how he gets his ideas, lets hope he keeps getting them. - by Cony Phurr |
