Nicholas Sparks

           Nicholas Sparks was born on December 31 1965, in Omaha Nebraska. When he was a child he had moved a lot. Sparks lived in Minnesota, Los Angeles, Grand Island, and finally, he and his family had settled in Fair Oaks, California when he was eight years old. Nicholas Spark’s mother was a at home mom then a optometrist’s assistant. On the other had, his dad was a professor. He had lived in Fair Oaks throughout his high school years. Sparks had graduated a valedictorian in 1984 and he had received a full scholarship to the University of Notre Dame for track and field.

        Nicholas Sparks had attended Notre Dame and broke the school record when he was apart on a relay team as a freshman in 1985. But that summer he got injured and Sparks had to spend the summer getting better. At some point during that same summer, he had written his first book. The book never got published. After the summer, he had still attended Notre Dame and Sparks majored in Business Finance. He graduated in 1988 with high honors.

     On spring break in 1988, he met his wife Catherine and they got married in July, 1989. They had moved to Sacramento and he had written his second novel that same year. It was never published. Over the course of the next three years, he had worked at a number of different jobs. Sparks had worked in real estate appraisal, became a waiter, he sold dental items over the phone, and he even started his own small business. In the year of 1990, Nicholas Sparks got together on a novel with Billy Mills. It was published by Feather Publishing. Even though it had received little publicity, the sales went up to fifty thousand copies in the first year.

         In 1992, Sparks had moved from Sacramento to North Carolina. In the year of 1994, when he was twenty eight years old, Sparks wrote The Notebook. It had taken him six months to write this novel. The book was officially published in October, 1996. Other books he had wrote were, Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Rescue, A Bend in the Road, Nights in Rodanthe, The Guardian, The Wedding, Three Weeks with my Brother, True Believer, and At First Sight. All books were published with Warner Books. Each one of the books were international bestsellers and translated into thirty-five and more languages. Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, and The Notebook. Each film made and average of fifty six million dollars, not including DVD sales.

          Now, Nicholas Sparks has a total of five kids. He now currently lives in North Carolina with his children and wife Catherine. Sparks is also working on  a new book called Dear John. It will be released October 30, 2006.
