Rumiko Takahashi was born in Niigata Japan on October 10,1957. Of course she grew up loving manga but she never knew she would be one of the world famous manga artists one day ,but she occasionally drew a character in the margin of her papers. The thought of being a manga artist never crossed her mind until she started high school at Niigata Chou High. She attended school at a training ground called Kazuo Koike (a local college). There she learned the ways of manga.

Takahashi was the founder of the "Manga Appreciation Club."  During her junior year of high school she finally decided to make manga her profession. During High School she published a manga in the "Shonen Sunday" a popular series of many stories. The manga was called "Katte Na Yatsura." To this very day she still publishes her work in the "Shonen Sunday."

Her first book series was ,"Urusei Yatsura" it was released in 1987. Yatsura is about an alien named Lum who is sent to destroy the world ,but is stopped after she falls in love with a human. After Urusei Yatsura her next book series was "Maison Ikkoku" it is her most romantic series out of them all.  Ranma 1/2 is her longest series so far (35 volumes) it is about a boy who changes into a girl if splashed with cold water but is turned back to normal when hit with hot water. Probably her most famous series "Inu-Yasha a Feudal Fairy Tale" came a few years after Ranma. It is about a girl named Kagome who lives in modern day Japan who travels back through time and meets a demon named Inu-Yasha. She has many other short series and other series in some books called the "Rumric Theater."

Takahashi herself is said to have a charming personality. She is now 46 years old and is currently living in Japan. Her books are influencing both to boys and girls. She has been given the nickname "The Princess of Manga." She enjoys talking about her childhood memories and music. Rumiko Takahashi is indeed the princess of manga and her books have been enjoyed by all people around the world.
