Francesca Lia Block(1962 - ) |
|
Francesca was born into a creative woman who is now a poet and a
painter. She is inspired by her love of Greek mythology and fairy tales.
She has always been a city girl. And now she lives with her husband,
Chris Schuette, her son, Samuel Alexander, her daughter, Jasmine Angelina
(the book Guarding the Moon was written about her), and last of
all her two dogs named, Vincent Go Go Boots and Thumper. Los Angeles is
her home and she has only left once to go to the University of
California, Berkley. In some of her books, she nicknames Los Angeles
calling it "Shangri-LA". She also calls it
"Jasmine-scented, jacaranda-purple, neon sparkled city." Mrs. Block was born in 1962 and lives to this day happily and successfully. Her hobbies are yoga, spending time with her family (mostly her mother and husband), writing books and painting. Her very first book is called Weetzie Bat, along with many more other books that have been sold all over the world in a variety of different languages. Some of Francesca's other books are called The Rose and The Beast, Violet & Claire, and Dangerous Angels. They were all in Los Angeles Times and best sellers. Some of her other books are called I Was A Teenage Fairy, Girl Goddess #9, The Hanged Man, Echo, and Nymph. Francesca is known for writing stories that go from mystical fairy stories to stories about teenage life and how hard it can be for some people. Francesca Lia describes her work as "contemporary fairy tales with an edge", where the real world and it's trouble find solace through the alchemy of creative expression and love. She has gotten numerous awards such as, the citation from the American Library Association, The New York Times Book Review, and the School Library Journal. Francesca is known to be an amazing writer, poet, and painter. - by Oobleck |
