Biography
Growing Up
Orson Scott Card was born in Richland, Washington on August 24, 1951. He was named after his grandfather, Orson Regan Card, whose father was the founder of the Mormon colony in Cardston, Canada. His parents, Willard and Peggy, moved to San Mateo when Orson was only an infant. After his father had a devastating back injury and could not work, they moved to Salt Lake City. A few years later his family moved back to Santa Clara where Orson attended Millikin Elementary School. Besides messing around and exploring with friends Orson made regular trips to the library in his childhood years. At age eight Orson had already read The Prince and the Popper, a book that attracted him to English literature at an early age. He graduated from Brigham Young University of Utah in 1975 and six years later, in 1981 he graduated from the University of Utah. After that, in mid 1980 he became a minister for a Mormon Church in Brazil for two years.

Orson
Scott Card writes several different kinds of genre but focuses in Science
Fiction. Orson was the first author
to win both the Hugo and Nebula awards for best science fiction novel of the
year, two years in a row. His
winning books are, Ender’s Game and Speaker for the Dead.
These are the first two books in the Ender’s Game Series.
The rest of the series consists of Xenocide, and Children of
the Mind. Ender’s Shadow is
from a different series but is the same story told by the perspective of a
different character from Ender’s Game. The
rest of the Ender’s Shadow series consists of Shadow of the Hegimon,
and Shadow Puppets.
Other Jobs
Besides
writing novels, Orson Scott Card also teaches writing classes at universities.
He teaches both science fiction and fantasy writing classes.
He has taught at many universities including
Pepperdine. He has also
taught several writing workshops.
Today, Orson Scott Card lives with his wife and five children in Greensboro, North Carolina. He teaches at Southern Virginia University but continues to write. He and his wife Kristine have five children: Geoffrey, Emily, Charles, Zina, Margaret, and Erin Louisa.

This is Ender's Game, the book that won the Hugo award in 1986.
This is Speaker for the dead, the first sequel to enders game and
the book that won the Nebula award in 1987
This is Xenocide, the second sequel to Ender's Game. It was
written in 1991.
This is Children of the Mind, the third and final sequel to Ender's
Game which was written in 1996.
This is Ender's shadow, it tells the same story as Ender's Game
but from the perspective of a kid named Been
This is Shadow of the Hegemon, the first sequel to Ender's
Shadow. It takes place on Earth, after the war is over and focuses on the
politics after the war.
This is Shadow Puppets, the second and final sequel to Ender's
Shadow.
This First Meetings, another book related to the Ender's Game
Series.
