Meg Cabot

Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967 in Bloomington, Indiana. Her parents are A. Victor, a college professor, and Barbara Cabot named her Meggin Patricia Cabot, but she prefers Meg Cabot. She also goes by some pseudonyms like Patricia Cabot and Jenny Carroll. She attended Indiana University and there she got a B.A. Soon later started illustrating until she figured out her drawing was taking her away from writing, so she gave up illustrating and got a job as an assistant dorm director at New York University. She then started traveling all over to Indiana, California, New York, France. She now lives in Key West, Florida with her husband, Benjamin D. Egnatz and her two cats Henrietta and Gem. The first book Meg Cabot wrote was a historical romance novel. It turns out she used a pseudonym for the book so her grandma wouldn’t know about it.

Meg Cabot has written and published almost 40 books. She is most known for The Princess Diary’s series and 1-800-WHERE-ARE-YOU series. Having the Princess Diary’s series become two movies, has been a huge award and excitement to Meg. Many of Meg’s books have been awarded or recommended to be read. Meg’s mom inspired Meg to write The Princess Diary’s.  When Meg’s father died her mom started dating one of her high school teachers and all Meg had to do was add in a princess role and her old high school diary’s and she has a book. As for 1-800-WHERE-ARE-YOU it is now a TV. show called the Missing. Her most likely influence in life is probably herself.

Meg Cabot doesn’t just write books for teenagers she also writes books for adults too. Some of her adult books are The Boy Next Door, Boy Meets Girl, and Size 12 Is Not Fat. Some of her teen books are The Princess Diary’s, 1-800-WHERE-ARE-YOU, ALL-AMERICAN GIRL, READY OR NOT, TEEN IDOL, AVALON HIGH, NICOLA AND THE VISCOUNT, and VICTORIA AND THE ROGUE. Many of Meg’s ideas for writing her novels are from her own life or people she knows, such as her mom, her friends, and herself. She even gets some of her writing from her own diaries.

Meg Cabot is currently working on many pieces of writing. She is working on getting The Princess Diaries 8 ready for publishing and writing The Princess Diaries 9. She is also working a few adult books. She is also writing MISSING YOU, the last book of the series 1-800-WHERE-ARE-YOU, for teens. Meg is very excited for these books to come out on paper and to have her next book finished. In the end Meg Cabot has accomplished writing almost 40 books and she is a great author.
