| The book, Lord
of the Rings: The Two Towers by J.R.R Tolkien,
is about a group of
different races in a world called Middle-Earth, traveling to an evil land
to destroy a powerful ring, forged by the darkest lord ever,
Sauron. There is no specific main character, for there are
many important ones. Frodo Baggins (a hobbit) is the ring bearer,
who has the horrid burden of carrying the dark ring of corrupt power. He
is accompanied by his friend Samwise Gamgee, a short, fat hobbit with a
big heart. In pursuit of the two hobbits, are their 3 friends;
Aragorn, a man, Legolas, an elf, and Gimli a dwarf. There are also
two other hobbits, separated from the rest from the rest; Merry and
Pippin. All these characters are traveling for one reason: to
destroy the Dark Lord & his awful ring, so Middle-Earth is not taken
over by dark forces. My favorite character is Pippin, because he's always
cheerful, and has a great sense of humor. I think the author of this
book was trying to make a point that there is some good in this world.
I can relate to Pippin for many reasons. First off, he always does and says the wrong thing and feels terrible about it, just like me. He also loves to be funny and make people laugh, which I always want to do! Besides always being funny and cheerful, when it comes to friends, he is caring, and helps them out. Overall, I loved the book! It leaves you in suspense at moments, and has a great plot. It also has great amounts of description, which makes it challenging, yet fun to read! My favorite part of the book was when Frodo and Sam met face to face with a 500 year old, mysterious creature, named Smeagol. My least favorite part was when they almost give up in the journey, and are almost captured by Sauron. If I were to change anything in the book, I would take back the death of a kind, helpful elf, Halider.
I would definitely recommend this book and I give it 4 paws! The type of person that would like this book, would have to like adventure, sci-fi, be a good reader, and have a good imagination. I loved this book and I'm looking forward to reading the last one of the trilogy..
