This story is about a girl named Harriet Tubman who grew up in Maryland on
a plantation. She and her mother and father (Old Rit and Ben) who have
also lived in Maryland all there all there life. the story is about
Harriet making her way for freedom. She escapes from her home and takes
the underground railroad all the way to Pennsylvania. Every time having
faith in herself she tries to free her whole entire family from the
cruelty of slavery. I think the authors point in this book is to
always have faith in yourself no matter what.
I personally have never done anything like what Harriet did. I have though a number of times thought about doing something like it. I had once escaped from a zone in a game. After that I went back and tried to get everyone out. The name of the game I think was Capture the Flag. It was very fun and daring to me. That is the closet I have every gotten to Harriet Tubman. This book I cannot say is my favorite book. Though it being a biography it is a pretty good book. My favorite parts are all the times where they go on the underground railroad. They are my favorite parts because it is always exciting and you never know what is going to happen next. The only part I would change in this book would be the ending. However the rest is good. Overall this is a great book. I would not recommend it to kids under 15 because they probably would not like it or not understand it. I would recommend it to only grownups. So if you want to know about the black history you should read this book. if you are going to read Harriet Tubman, enjoy. |
