20,000 Leagues Under the Sea By Jules Verne The book 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a story about a French scientist named Pierre Annox and his friends and their adventure in a ship that can travel under water at incredible speeds. The story takes place in the early 1860’s. The ship is named the Nautilus and its Captain’s name is Nemo. Nemo takes the three friends on an amazing adventure from the Mediterranean Sea to the South Pole to the islands of Hawaii. The book has many elements to it like adventure, horror, drama, and humor.
I can somewhat relate to certain emotions and events in the book. I can relate to Captain Nemo a lot. He gets frustrated sometimes because there are many wars at the time and he tries to stop them even though he can’t. I know there are many wars and conflicts occurring in the world and I wish I could stop them also. The fact that he can’t do anything angers and saddens Captain Nemo, it does the same to me. I can’t quite say I’ve done any thing they did in the book, but I do go swimming. Personally I thought this book was absolutely amazing. My favorite part of the book was, well, the entire book it self. I did have a least favorite part, the end, I had to stop reading because the story was over! If I could change the book I wouldn’t. Did some guy come along and paint a mustache on the Mona Lisa after DaVinnci finished the thing? See what I mean. So to sum it up I liked it and I wouldn’t change a single thing, there. I would highly recommend this book. It is still frequently read today, it was written in the 1800’s. The Nautilus is actually the idea submarines is based on, sometimes I brag about being smart when all I did was read an old book. I would recommend this book to almost any one, I’d only tell someone not to read it if they couldn’t read. I think this classic is a great pick for anyone because there are different versions, like ones for children, young adults, and the original. I think even you would like it.
