Holes is about a kid named Stanley Yelnats who gets in trouble and gets sent to Camp Green Lake. There he has to dig holes 5 feet deep and 5 feet in diameter to build character. Mr. Sir said that if you find anything interesting, to report it to Mr. Pendanski or Mr. Sir. If the warden likes it, you get the rest of the day off. When Stanley asks what there looking for, Mr. Sir says their building character. I think Stanley is thinking that their looking for something, not building character. Read the other 200 pages and find out the mystery at Camp Green Lake. In the book, I think I can relate to a kid named "Magnet" who is in D camp with Stanley. Magnet got his name from stealing things. "My hands are like magnets." he said when he stole sunflower seeds from Mr.. Sir's truck. He remind me of myself because I steal a lot and well, sometimes. I liked this book a lot. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 12. It is an everybody-should-read book. My favorite part in the book was when Stanley took Mr. sir's truck and drove it accidentally into a hole. I recommend this book to all who can read and encourage parents to read this to their 4-5 year old child. Everybody would like this book. It has everything (in my opinion) from comedy to drama. It also has a perfect end. Dig into it....5 feet deep or more. |
